Company Overview:

Moran Consulting Limited is working with a leading producer of top-quality chicks and hatching eggs in New Zealand and the Pacific. We are currently seeking a skilled Livestock Manager to join their team and oversee the day-to-day operations of their Layer Breeder Farms in Ohoka and East Eyreton. This hands-on role requires a proactive individual with proven livestock management experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of the Farm to ensure optimum operation and performance.

  • Oversee livestock management, focusing on welfare, biosecurity, and general bird health to ensure peak production levels.

  • Supervise and maintain all Farm properties, including buildings, vehicles, machinery, and land care.

  • Plan and organize Farm Operational requirements to meet placement schedules.

  • Provide oversight and management of flocks, cleanouts, set-ups, egg cool room, and feed stocks.

  • Foster a collaborative culture by working closely with all Farm employees.

  • Lead and develop the Farm team to achieve productivity, quality, and performance goals.

  • Manage daily staffing levels, conduct annual reviews, and focus on enhancing engagement and retention.

  • Ensure compliance with Biosecurity, Quality, Standard Operating Procedures, and OSH requirements.

  • Achieve performance, quality, animal welfare, and cost objectives.

Key Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in livestock management.

  • Prior leadership experience with a proven ability to lead and develop a team.

  • Excellent knowledge and commitment to Animal Welfare Codes.

  • Solid understanding and dedication to safe work practices.

  • High levels of motivation and personal drive.

  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.

  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.

  • Must be entitled to work in New Zealand.

  • As this is a 24/7 operation, the successful candidate will be required to attend to after-hours calls as needed.
