Experienced Calf Rearer - Waikato, New Zealand

Green Valley Dairies Ltd

Mangatawhiri, Waikato

Farm Labour (Farming, Animals & Conservation)

Full time

Join our dedicated team at Green Valley Dairies Ltd in Mangatawhiri, Waikato, as an Experienced Calf Rearer. We are a well-established dairy farm seeking a skilled individual to oversee the day-to-day operations of our calf house.

As the Main Calf Rearer at Marphona Farm, you will be responsible for the rearing and care of our calves in a well-equipped calf house. With four dairy sheds and approximately 1500 cows in autumn and 1000 cows in spring, this is a full-time position that offers long-term stability.

To thrive in this role, you should have at least 2 years of experience in calf rearing and possess a keen eye for animal health. Excellent communication skills are essential as you will be working closely with our team and managing one full-time rearer and two part-time employees. You will be responsible for the calves' well-being until they reach approximately six months of age. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to care for our sheep and soon-to-be-introduced free-range hens.

We value cleanliness and organization, so being a clean and tidy person who believes in maintaining an orderly environment is important. Riding a quad with a calf feeder is part of the job, so proficiency in this skill is required.

As part of our employment process, pre-employment drug, police, and medical checks will be conducted. In addition to a competitive salary or hourly rate, we provide a phone allowance and medical insurance for our employees.

Our farm is conveniently located in Mangatawhiri, just a 45-minute drive southeast of Auckland airport. With a great school only 3 minutes away, this is an ideal location for families.
