Position: Farm Supervisor

Reporting to: Farm Manager

Position Overview

As a Farm Supervisor you will provide leadership to the Farm team and perform various Farm operational tasks to help continuously improve our financial and operational performance. Your main priorities will be to coordinate the activities of our seasonal farm operators to achieve our budgeted yields and costs.

You will also collaborate with other Grant divisions to insure success of the Grant Farms Corp. Implement necessary safety measures to establish and maintain a clean safety record. Contribute to the overall strategic planning of the Corporation and represent a vision for the Farm Division.

Essential Job Functions

  • Help schedule and manage farm team activities in a safe and cost effective way

  • Work with the Farm Manager to prepare planting, spraying, and harvest plans

  • Monitor and make recommendations on all farm costs

  • Assist in the selection and training of seasonal Farm operators

  • Operate farm equipment including planters, sprayers and combines

  • Assist in managing/driving seasonal workers

  • Make recommendations as it pertains to farm equipment repairs and maintenance and selection

  • Assist in scouting crops to determine in-season spraying and fertilizer requirements

  • Assist in creating, monitoring & executing in-field experiments to continuously improve operational performance; focus on yields and margin/acre

  • Perform farm equipment maintenance, clean equipment, analyze crop performance & create upcoming crop plan and various assorted activities in the off-season

Other Skills/Abilities

  • Good command of the English language

  • Significant Farm equipment operation experience

  • Understanding of Mechanical Shop requirements and perform maintenance activities

  • Education in Agriculture with a minimum of 5 years experience in the field an asset

  • Computer ability

  • Supervisory experience is an asset

  • Valid Driver’s license

  • AZ license or willingness to obtain is a benefit

  • Experience with GPS systems

  • Agricultural university or college education an asset
